It’s been 2 weeks since Resonate camp, and God has already started to do wonderful things.. today I saw 5 of my what I consider good friends get baptized in front of everybody and to publicly declare their love for Christ Jesus, it was absolutely incredible! :) congratulations Steph, Sam, Jo, Shawtyy + Will! I’m genuinely happy and excited about your faith with Christ and your journey ahead with Him! I pray that you continue to grow and to trust in Him because the journey ahead will not be easy, but filled with trials and temptations.
So before I was just doing my study on english language, and I was struggling and I see ASHLEY CHAN! a warrior for God starting to talk to me on MSN. I only met him on FRIDAYY and I can already tell, this was all part of God’s plan for me to meet him at Grace. Ash started to ask me questions about resonate and somehow floating on to the subject of MUSIC ministry at Resonate. Questions about me being in the ministry started to pop up.. like.. Where am I in this ministry? Am I still to continue at RESONATE for ministry? or am I called to go to somewhere else to continue bass/back up? A couple of months ago, I asked Sharon if I could be put on break for a while because I was experiencing some friendship problems within Resonate and was considering to move churches as well as some spiritual down falls with God.
Now, I’m wondering what my direction in ministry is.. I definitely know that I want to continue in music ministry with bass/back upping. But as to where, and when I’ll start again.. I still do not know. As I was still pondering .. Jeremiah 29:11 popped in my head, it says: For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Although, right now I still don’t know where my direction is, but I know that God has got a plan for me, and that he will hide me under His eagle wing in times of trial and temptations, and I will be standing under his fortress, building my future and my ambitions for His ministry and kingdom on His ROCK.
There is a ROCK to be found. There is an inner rest to be experienced that’s deeper than conceptual understanding, human love, personal success, and the accumulation of possessions. There is a rock that will give you rest even when all of those things have been taken away. THAT ROCK IS CHRIST, and you were hard-wired to find what you are seeking in him. In his grace, he won’t play hide-and-seek with you. In your weakness and weariness, cry out to him. He will find you, and he will be YOUR rock.
~ A Shelter in the time of Storm- Paul David TRIPP
You are secure not because you have control of understanding. You are secure even though you are weak, imperfect and shortsighted. You are secure for on reason and one reason alone: GOD exists and he is your Father. He will never leave your side. He will never fail to provide. He will make good on everything he as promised. And he has the power to do so. HE IS LORD.
~”A Shelter in the Time of Storm”- Paul David TRIPP
Reference: v.17 “Therefore, this is what the Lord says: You have not obeyed me; you have not proclaimed freedom for your fellow countrymen. So I now proclaim ‘freedom’ for you, declares the Lord - ‘freedom’ to fall by the sword, plague and famine. I will make you abhorrent to all the kingdoms of the earth.” (NIV Bible)
Explore: Although my study in psychology was a long time ago I still remember one of the studies that was explained in one of my lectures. A psychologist was analysing the area around playgrounds that children would play in. They discovered that if there was a fence around some play equipment the children would use the whole fenced off area. However, if there was no fence around the play equipment, the children would stay closer to the equipment for their free playing activities. The psychologist was able to conclude that when children were given boundaries they played in the whole space within that boundary. However, if there were no physical boundaries present then they would reduce their play area and stick mainly to the equipment provided. The children were found to play in less space when there was no fence present.
Application: When it comes to following God it may look like there are a lot of restrictions. You can’t do this, you shouldn’t do that… There seem to be fences set up at every turn. However, God is like the playground fence, He provides certain limits not to contain us but to provide us safe freedom within the area. The thing about God is that he never locks the gate. We have the choice to stay within the fenced area or not. However, within the fenced area - which is so much larger than what people give God credit for - we have freedom, love and hope. The people in Jerusalem wanted ‘freedom’ and so God gave it to them. They decided that they would make all their own decisions and not stay true to God’s laws and so He freed them, and they were conquered by another nation. God truly desires what is best for us. The wisdom we can gain from the Bible is given to assist us, not to bind us up. The fences in faith are to give us great freedom, not to restrict our lives.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for the freedom we have in You. When we trust in You we are no longer bound by the things of this world but we have your grace, love and hope. Amen.
Do you feel restricted by your faith? In which ways does your faith give you freedom
